Southampton & Region Hoteliers Association Hospitality Awards - a huge success!

The first Southampton & Region Hoteliers Association 2018 Hospitality Awards (sponsored by Cab My Ride) took place on Friday 8th February 2019, at Doubletree by Hilton Southampton Hotel. What a success they were!

Attended by over 130 hotel managers, staff, hospitality ambassadors and tourism companies, the event raised over £2000 for FareShare. FareShare is the UK's largest charity fighting hunger and food waste. It saves good food from going to waste and redistributes it to frontline charities).

Mentor of The Year - sponsored by The Marketing Collective

It was a great privilege to be able to sponsor one of the awards. We chose the Mentor of the Year category because of our passion and commitment to personal development.

As business owners, managers and team leaders, we know that we are only good as the team we have. So when looking at the finalists for the Mentor of the Year Award, we were looking for someone has their team at the centre of all they do, who leads with passion, confidence and inspires. Someone who nurtures, supports risk taking and truly motivates through a shared vision.

The finalists in the MENTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD category :

  • Edward Francis at New Place Hotel

  • Claus Christensen at Hilton Ageas Bowl

  • Ben Cutting at Solent Hotel & Spa

We chose our winner due to the integral part they play in the career and personal development of their staff. Since starting in their position they have proactively made changes within the hotel to improve the working culture and to help make staff feel more valued. They share their experience and knowledge to help their team find the right path, and move forward with their own careers. This person's open door policy makes them easily approachable, offering a safe space for staff to voice any concerns. They encourage their team to take risks, review, and learn from any mistakes. Our winner is trusted by their team, shares in their challenges, and is a positive role model.
