The Southampton Guide

The Southampton Guide was developed over 10 years by The Marketing Collective; a destination marketing company who have a passion for the city. After seeing public sector funding for tourism declined, The Marketing Collective took it on themselves to promote the city, delivering quality campaigns to increase the visitor economic of the city.

MARKETING STRATEGY

To develop and deliver a campaign based on the many reasons to #visitsouthampton so that a one night stay is not long enough. To work with organisations on generating content which attracts more visitors who stay for longer. 

MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

10 years of publishing The Southampton Pocket Guide (that’s over 800,000 copies) as the city’s official tourist publication.

SOCIAL MEDIA

We also built a brand community via social media via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with a monthly reach of over 62,000 users.

CONTENT MARKETING

In 2017, The Southampton Guide was launched as a content-drive destination website.. Acting as a portal for reviews, itienraries, blogs and content from printed communications.

Working with our contact, clients and stakeholders across the city, we planned and delivered a video marketing campaign based on the their reasons to visit Southampton.

SAYING GOODBYE TO THE SOUTHAMPTON GUIDE

In 2020, The Southampton Guide was published for the final time. With Covid-19 hitting tourism hard it became unfeasible to keep the guide going without external funding. The guide did an amazing job for tourism over it’s 10 year stretch, all of which was developed, written, designed, and printed by The Marketing Collective.
