Work Placement by Kara -
I’m 20 years old and I study Events and Business Management at the University of Chester. As a part of my second year, I had to undertake a 5 week work placement module within a business (this is where The Marketing Collective comes in!).
I didn’t know a great deal about marketing and therefore wanted the experience to further develop my knowledge and understanding of what is involved.
Over the past 5 weeks, I have learnt so much and it has been so interesting to analyse all aspects of marketing however, I have really taken an interest in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and drawing people’s attention to websites by what they search in Google. I have further realised that keywords do have an impact, as when writing blogs to connect a specific keyword will bring it up. There are so many minute details to make everything come together.
I have really enjoyed content writing and scheduling social media posts, particularly seeing the engagement results from each post and how they highlight varied figures for different timings. This was one of the key skills I wanted to learn and develop especially as I will need to write social media posts for events.
However, my favourite thing has been writing blogs as I hadn’t written a blog before and whilst at The Marketing Collective I have had the opportunity to write a few with one already being published on the website for Father’s Day and due to this I have understood the effective of destination marketing and how businesses do gain from it.
These 5 weeks have gone so quickly and thoroughly enjoyed the process with all the marketing experience and knowledge I have gained.
Thank you, The Marketing Collective for being such a great work placement!
