Business and short break travellers targeted with new hotel room magazine

VISITORS staying in Winchester this summer will gain a better idea of what's happening in the city by browsing through the first ever Visit Winchester Guest Magazine produced by The Marketing Collective with support from the Visit Winchester and Heart of Hampshire Destination Management Partnership team based at Winchester City Council and staff at Winchester Business Improvement District.

The magazine, which features itineraries and ideas for days out in the city and beyond, offers a clear picture of what is going on in Winchester and is designed to ensure guests get an overview of the big attractions but also tempt them to discover the lesser know attractions and explore the side streets of the city centre and the market towns further afield.

The first edition’s cover star is The Colour Factory, Tina Scahill, Creative Director of The Marketing Collective commented:"We wanted to showcase what is great about the city and highlight the bustling creative scene. We proactively support local artists when looking for themes for our Guides and the work The Colour Factory has done in Winchester bringing art quite literally to the streets is quite wonderful. Our interview with Jenny Muncaster from the Colour Factory gives a fascinating insight into the work she is creating and her colourful approach to life," said Tina.

"We are really proud of the publications we have produced this year and it is great to see our Guest Magazine brand developing. Our new publication for Winchester is an exciting development for a city that has so much happening in its events scene and it has been fascinating pulling together the features for this first edition," said Tina.

Cllr Robert Humby, Leader of Winchester City Council and Portfolio Holder for Tourism and Economic Development added,"When you arrive in your hotel room, its good to be able to leaf through a magazine that gives you a deeper insight into what a destination is all about. The recommendations highlight features about what's hot in Winchester right now and point people in the right direction so they can access the Visit Winchester website, films and social media streams whilst visiting.”

The Marketing Collective has also produced Guest Guides for Southampton and Portsmouth. The Visit Winchester Guest Magazine is available free from Winchester Tourist Information Centre and can be downloaded from www.visitwinchester.co.uk .

The Tourist Information centre is open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Email tourism@winchester.gov.uk to access a link to view the magazine online.
