Knowing your tourism audience: Hampshire’s Top Attraction Case Study

As a destination marketing company we know that the destination is only as strong as the people that visit it. Without them there is no tourism and economies and businesses within those destinations suffer.

At The Marketing Collective our passion is tourism and destinations. We like nothing more than to promote great things to do and places to go for families, kids, and adults alike.

Over the years we have been working with Hampshire's Top Attractions to help drive visitors to the area and aid to the overall improvement of tourism in Hampshire. By working as a collective and pulling our resources together the group can have the best possible impact.

We've used collateral such as leaflets, website, email marketing and social media to drive tourism to Hampshire, and through growing members of Hampshire's Top Attractions been able to offer more to our audience.

We sent survey to the Hampshire's Top Attractions to find out what the audience thought of Hampshire and the marketing material they were receiving from us.

Our survey said;

  • Over 97% agree Hampshire has a range of places to visit and offers something for everyone.

  • Over 92% say it offers plenty of culture and heritage.

  • Over 70% said that after receiving the HTA email newsletters they have then planned a day out in Hampshire

  • Over 70% said it prompted them to visit one of Hampshire's attractions.

One of our goals with Hampshire's Top Attractions is to bring awareness of just how many things there are to do in Hampshire as a destination and we were delighted to see that over 97% of our survey had recognised this.

We were also pleased to see that over 70% had taken action after receiving an email from Hampshire's Top Attractions to plan a day out in Hampshire and to visit one of Hampshire's attractions.

As a collaborative it is great to know we are on the right track, but we won't be stopping there. We are continually planning bigger and more exciting things to really drive tourism and promote Hampshire as a destination!
